Buck Student Aging Symposium

Annual symposium organized by Buck graduate students

The Buck Student Aging Symposium (BSAS) is an annual internal research conference organized and run by the Graduate Student Society (GSS). This conference takes place in the spring here at Buck Institute for Research on Aging. The day is filled with oral and poster presentations given by our Dominican Masters of Biological Sciences and Biology of Aging PhD students. All Buck researchers and administrators are invited and encouraged to attend, as this event showcases their research during their time at Buck.

In 2022, the BSAS keynote was renamed the Arnold J. Kahn Memorial Lecture. We are deeply grateful to Arnie's relatives: Dr. and Mrs. C. Ronald Kahn and Dr. Jane Carey Kahn who have committed to support the future BSAS keynotes as we are able to invite pioneers of aging research to come inspire the future generations of scientists at Buck.

Every year we are grateful to everyone’s help and support. For some, BSAS is their favorite research conference of the year! Ever since the first BSAS in 2016, the conference has grown in attendance as well as the activities planned, and we hope it continues to grow for years to come with the continued support from Buck, Navigage Foundation, and the Kahn Family.

Who are the BSAS committee members?

The Graduate Student Society (GSS) strives to better the educational and social experience of the graduate students at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging. The Buck Student Aging Symposium was initiated by the GSS to enrich the student experience at The Buck. All students are invited to provide their suggestions and input, and a subsection of the GSS (the BSAS committee) meets weekly after normal work hours to discuss and act upon the finer details of the event, such as inviting guest speakers, preparing the event agenda, and seeking donations.

This year’s BSAS committee is as follows:
