Senescence and inflammation

It’s a feature of nearly every chronic disease. Some experts call this phenomenon inflamm-aging.

Our focus is aging

Chronic inflammation drives many age-related diseases, and the Buck is a pioneer in efforts to deal with it. Senescent cells, which stop dividing under stress, accumulate over our lifetime, secreting factors that cause inflammation and lead to tissue degradation. We helped develop a method that selectively clears senescent cells, and we incubated a company that is readying new drugs for clinical trials. We are also working on groundbreaking projects aimed at tackling senescence in the aging brain.
