The Buck goes to the movies: Evil Scientists and Hollywood!

Event Registration

We are marking our 20th anniversary throughout 2019 and are celebrating it by scheduling a number of events that focus on our science, our history and our place in society! Please join us for this unique, fun event, and help us celebrate 20 years of research in aging!

For many years, Hollywood has been making movies about how science might approach the eternal question; is it possible to extend human life, and achieve immortality?

Professor Simon Melov is a long-standing faculty member of the Buck, with a lifelong interest in science fiction and Hollywood. He will host a light hearted overview of how Hollywood has treated science, and specifically the issue of lifespan extension & “evil scientists”. Come up to the Buck for a fun filled evening revisiting clips from many of your favorite movies. The talk will celebrate how Hollywood views science, and those pesky “evil scientists” who are always up to no good.
