Changing the Skyline: In Conversation with Leslie E. Robertson

A tour of the Buck Institute is available for ticketed attendees attendees only one-hour prior to start of program; please be sure to respond to the required question upon check-out if you will be attending; space is limited for this exclusive tour with Les Robertson and Sawteen See; reception from 6:00 to 6:45 p.m.; program begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.

Moderated by architectural guru Arthur Gensler, FAIA, FIIDA, RIBA, we invite you to join us for a screening of Leaning Out followed by a conversation with Leslie E. Robertson, P.E., C.E., S.E., NAE,Dist. M.ASCE, lead structural engineer of the World Trade Center, and his wife SawTeen See, P.E., CE, Dist.M.ASCE, who led the structural design of such iconic buildings as the Shanghai World Financial Center,  the Lotte World Tower in Seoul and the Buck Institute!

Directed and produced by Basia and Leonard Myszynski, Leaning Out follows Robertson whose storied six-decade career in engineering generated the most innovative and formally daring buildings of the modern era. Having overseen the construction of the World Trade Center, the film documents his response to its fall in 2001 following the 9/11 attack, how he became a long-time advocate for the families of victims and how he addressed the engineering community who demanded answers after the tragedy. This account is also described in his book The Structure of Design.
