Six Bay Area Artists are showing new work at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging in California.

Situated in the building designed by renowned architect I M Pei, the Buck Institute operates in a gorgeous building, with no right angles, where light is flooding into a spacious atrium and where the windows are framing the soft rolling hills of Novato.

The title Thinking Structure refers to the architectural space as well as to the function of the research institute that the artists are responding to in the selection or even production of artwork for this show.

Whether the artwork is directly created through the architectural inspiration (Vogt, Reckewell) or carefully selected in response to it, all artists enter in a dialogue with the architectural space of Im Pei and each other and hope to engage in a dialogue between the scientific community and the art community as well.

The interesting aspects of this dialogue are the tangents in the creative process, in the imagination and in structural thinking.

This project is made possible with generous support of the Buck Institute and the Goethe Institute.
