Human Embryonic Stem Cell Course

What will you learn?

Basic methodology required for the successful culture of hESCs, including preparing mouse embryonic fibroblast (MEF) feeder cells, freeze-thaw cycling of hESCs, passaging hESCs manually and enzymatically, preparing embryoid bodies (EB) for differentiation, and examining hESC markers by techniques including immunocytochemistry and RT-PCR.

 

What makes our course unique?

The training will take place at the newly established Shared Research Laboratory and Stem Cell Techniques Course at the Buck Institute funded by the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine.

 

Is this course for me?

The course is designed for graduate students, postdocs and technicians in the field of Life Sciences.

Cost: $950. A maximum of ten participants will be accepted.

Course Director and Staff

The directors of the course are Dr. Xianmin Zeng, Associate Professor and Director of North Bay CIRM Shared Research Laboratory for Stem Cells and Aging, Buck Institute for Aging Research, and Dr. Mahendra Rao, Adjunct Professor, Buck Institute for Aging Research.

The course staff consists of senior scientists from their research laboratories.
