Emiko Higashi


Ms. Higashi is a founder of Tomon Partners, LLC, a strategy and M&A advisory firm based in San Francisco and primarily serving companies in technology- and healthcare-related fields. Ms. Higashi also serves on the boards of KLA-Tencor (NASDAQ), InvenSense (NYSE), and Zeptor (private).

Prior to founding Tomon Partners in 2003, Ms. Higashi was a co-founder and CEO of Gilo Ventures, which had offices in Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv; led venture capital investments in high technology companies; and served on the boards of Zen Research (then a London Stock Exchange company), Stentor Inc., and Silicon Design Systems. Ms. Higashi founded Tomon Partners, LLC and has been a managing director to date.

Prior to Gilo Ventures, Ms. Higashi spent 15 years in investment banking. She started her investment banking career at Lehman Brothers, became one of the founding members of Wasserstein Perella in 1988, and led the firm’s technology M&A business until 1994. Ms. Higashi was recruited to head the technology investment banking M&A practice of Merrill Lynch in 1994, and remained as managing director responsible for global technology M&A business from Silicon Valley until 2000. During her tenure at Merrill Lynch, Ms. Higashi personally advised on transactions valued at over $17 billion. Her practice was global, with clients including Cisco Systems, DSP Communications, H&R Block, Hyundai Electronics, IBM, KLA-Tencor, LSI Logic, Maxtor, SHL Systemhouse, USCS, and Xerox.

Prior to her investment banking career, Ms. Higashi spent two years as a consultant at McKinsey & Company in Tokyo, Japan.

Ms. Higashi grew up in Japan.  She currently lives in San Francisco with her husband and two daughters. She serves on the board of Tara Health Foundation which focuses on advancing the cause for women’s health.  She is an avid fan of all kinds of excellent music, classical to rock, and has a special affinity for the Cypress String Quartet, a San Francisco-based quartet.  She also skis and still enjoys racing with her daughters.
