BAC in Costa Rica

Buck Advisory Council – Costa Rica

January 24 - 26, 2012

Longevity and Scientific Discovery

We are excited to announce that the next Buck Advisory Council meeting will take place in Costa Rica.  We are postponing our previouisly planned trip to Havana, Cuba until 2013 so that we can obtain the necessary permit from the U.S. Treasury department.

We have enlisted the expert guidance of one of Costa Rica’s most extraordinary ambassadors, the former vice president of the county, His Excellency José Miguel Alfaro, to help us plan this event.   He and Doña Leda Milena Muñoz García, Executive Director of the Omar Dengo Foundation, are our in-country partners.

The conference program will feature panel discussions by members of our faculty with dignitaries and scientists from Costa Rica and neighboring countries.

To capture the excitement of discovery and richness of opportunity in Costa Rica, we are arranging a schedule of presentations, site visits, and special guests to illuminate intersecting topics, including:

  • aging research
  • longevity
  • scientific discovery
  • education
  • technology
  • economics
