Many Buck Institute faculty embrace their role as a “citizen scientist”, commenting on public policy issues and being quoted on editorial pages.

On February 24, 2013 the Chilean newspaper La Tercera ran an op-ed "Chile Faces the Challenges of Aging" co-authored by Buck Institute CEO Brian Kennedy and Dr. Jorge Allende, Director of International Relations at the Medical School of the University of Chile. The Marin Independent Journal ran a "Marin Voice" op-ed by Buck faculty Dale Bredesen, MD on Sunday January 7, 2013. The piece was titled "The Healthiest Town in America."

The Arab Times featured an Op-Ed by Buck CEO Brian Kennedy PhD, on October 7, 2011. The article focused on the epidemic of Type II diabetes now impacting the middle East. A similar article appeared in the Kuwait Times.
